Born in 1995 in France, Alice Saadi lives and works in Paris.
In her work, she intends to depict the language of simple objects and landscapes through the poetic gaze she endows them with and the multiplicity of what they may evoke to one another. She seeks to make visible the strength that abandoned places carry within it. The evocative use of pictorial and sculptural locations filled with human’s absence resonates with the idea of a world left behind, where one can imagine what life used to be and what possible future can still grow in it.
Within her artistic practice, landscapes are finding themselves oscillating in a state of in-between - on the one hand the improbability of their existence and on the other hand the precision of specific visual details.
In her work she is exploring the intriguing multiplicity of our surrondings through painting, miniature models, video, photography, sculptural installation and writing. She seeks to make tangible the poetry hidden into landscapes of deserted places. Alice Saadi finds herself fascinated by the quiet, yet very powerful strength arising from these imaginary locations she depicts.
This pluridisciplinary way of working and thinking is a coherent approach to the subject itself. It allows her to highlight the elusive quality of those places whether it is through the resistance of the medium or the evocative use of the material itself.
Her video and photographic works are created from miniature models which are designed to disappear. The final form is the photo or the video whereas the materiality of the miniature model evaporates. This gesture allows one to question the tangible mutation and sometimes even the disappearance of our surroundings.
Her artistic experimental research and practice are to be seen as a whole. Beyond a first visual lecture, the work carries within an open window on our own invisible and sensitive inner world.
